Ancient Egyptians may have created the first multicolored glass beads known as 'millefiori'. Later, skilled Venetians developed the artform and gave the distinctive glassware its name ('thousand flowers' in Italian).
Then, Viking touristscredit cards in hand and ever-alert for unique collectibles returned from southern cruises with shopping bags stuffed with millefiori beads (the Vikings called the beads 'tusen blomar', but the Italian term is more widely used).
Viking jewelers used millefiori beads in their craft (necklaces festooned with the beads have been found in 10th-century Viking graves). Today, Scandistyle Design brings back their ancient bead-art with colorful millefiori recreations in our signature Vikingfiori bracelets.
Photos are representative. Each bracelet is one-of-a-kind; individual beads will vary.
